YOUR JOURNEY STARTS HERE.

RECONNECT WITH YOURSELF THROUGH SOMATIC HEALING

ABOUT ME

I am a licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and specialize in trauma and somatic healing. My undergraduate work was completed at Emory University. I completed my masters program at Georgia State University in community counseling with an emphasis in geriatrics. My practice in mind/body integration healing began six years ago after raising my family. My passion is healing trauma in all ages, helping people create an ability to process their feelings regarding the past, present, and future. I see myself as a guide to helping people reconnect to their strengths and heal their wounds. The mind/body connection allows each person to become familiar with their internal world of sensations. The goal is helping people feel safe in their body while experiencing their emotions and learning to trust their body as well as their intuition. I look forward to guiding your healing journey and reconnecting you to your true self.

Individual Therapy

Individual therapy involves 60 minutes of time dedicated to learning how to integrate your mind and body. In our hectic world, this process is essential to living a healthy and productive life. It will allow you to achieve healthy relationships at home, at work, socially, and most importantly, with yourself. Some of the common conditions I treat include:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Intimacy
  • Trauma
  • Addictions
  • OCD

Adolescent and Child Therapy

Each family system has a unique set of patterns based on the individuals in the family. My work involves educating parents on how to work with their child’s nervous system. The parents learn to recognize and notice the reason a child is using a particular behavior, and find new and healthier behaviors to express themselves. I educate parents on the importance of keeping kids connected to their body, and knowing how to stay emotionally regulated. Parents also learn how to build resilience for themselves and their children, keeping the bond strong during the technology onslaught of disconnection.

Couples Therapy

Couples therapy allows for partners to define their feelings, form effective communication with one another, and promote healthy emoting styles. Couples learn to reconnect with each other on a meaningful level and help each other continue to grow and tackle challenges as they arise in their relationship.

Testimonials

John

❝I had never heard of somatic healing before I attended Mrs. Kapenstein’s presentation. Wow! What an eye opener! When she spoke about how important it is for parents and educators to get in touch with their feelings and bodily sensations in order to help themselves and the children in their care, it made so much sense. And, when I practiced following Mrs. Kapenstein’s simple instructions, I couldn’t believe how easy it was and how much better I felt afterward!❞

❝I think she offers a practical introduction to the what and how of somatic awareness. She is very patient and attuned and sensitive to those she works with.❞

Donna P.

❝Although her presentation was not first time I heard about somatic healing, I came away with a deeper understanding of how it works. That very night, I had an opportunity to use this process and was astounded at how it enabled me to release any dysregulation and almost instantly feel lighter and happier! What a gift!❞
